Mercy House, Inc. is seeking a Shelter Specialist in Santa Barbara, CA. The role supports the Emergency Shelter Program during designated shifts with a focus on safety, guest engagement, and housing-focused outcomes.

A flexible schedule includes some weekend, morning, evening, and holiday shifts. Compensation is $23.25 per hour, with options for part-time or full-time status. The Shelter Specialist will assist with shelter activities, maintain cleanliness and safety, manage orders and records,

Qualifications

• High tolerance for individuals with urgent multiple case management and health needs.
• Ability to perform crisis intervention as needed.
• Ability to communicate clearly, in writing and verbally.

Responsabilités

• Shelter Support: ensure a safe, guest-focused, trauma-informed environment; assist with shelter setup, maintenance, and organization of supplies; monitor signs and calendars; support neighborhood outreach.
• Administration: maintain daily summary sheets and records; assist with reporting.
• Miscellaneous: assist guest services and program activities; complete ad hoc projects as directed by Supervisor.
