Job summary

Cornerstone Advocacy Service is seeking a Shelter Advocate to deliver trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy for individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual violence, or trafficking. The role supports 24/7 shelter access, crisis line response, and walk-in services while promoting safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of one year of direct trauma-informed or crisis response experience.
• Knowledge of domestic/sexual violence and survivor-centered practices.
• Proven communication skills and ability to engage diverse populations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide confidential, trauma-informed advocacy, safety planning, and crisis intervention.
• Respond to crisis line calls and follow up with participants and referrals.
• Screen and coordinate access to emergency shelter when space is available.
• Maintain engagement with participants through check-ins and ongoing support.
• Support shelter operations, resident needs, and daily living activities.
