Job summary

The Upper Valley Haven's Leahy Resource Center seeks compassionate staff for full-time weekday shifts to support guests and maintain a safe, welcoming environment. You will help with daily operations, intakes, and community resource connections using person-centered, trauma-informed approaches.

Three full-time staff will be employed for 1st shift, focusing on professionalism, teamwork, and balancing compassion with accountability in a shelter setting.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Reliability and punctuality.
• Commitment to work non-traditional hours including holidays.
• Ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and stay calm in crises.
• Understand the impact of unsheltered living, instability, mental health and substance misuse.
• Flexibility, adaptability and teamwork.
• Able to bend and lift up to 30 lbs. and perform active duties.
• Experience in shelter or social services preferred (not required).

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests respectfully and orient them to Resource Center policies.
• Maintain safe, clean, and welcoming spaces.
• Assist with laundry, cleaning tasks, and mealtime management.
• Conduct intakes and basic needs assessments.
• Complete shift documentation accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with staff and managers to coordinate services.
• Support on-site services, workshops, and partner visits.
• Respond to crises, conflicts, or medical needs as needed.
• Participate in team meetings and supervision.
• Assist guests with applications and accessing resources.
