Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, St. Vincent Villa, is seeking an Assistant Unit Manager to support daily operations and staff leadership in the Genesis residential program for children ages 5–13.

This role emphasizes a trauma‑informed, safe, and consistent environment and requires weekend and evening availability. The position demands a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, plus several years in residential treatment and supervisory duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in human services, nursing, healthcare, mental health, education, child care, or related field; substitute allowed on a year-for-year basis.
• 4 years’ experience in a residential treatment environment, 2 of which must be in senior/supervisory/management roles.
• TCI training must be completed within 2 months of hire and maintained throughout employment.
• CARE training must be completed within 6 months of hire and maintained throughout employment.
• RCYCP certification must be current at hire or obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained throughout employment.
• CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained within 45 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
• Strong communication, confidentiality, integrity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Proficiency with basic Windows, web browsing, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Teams; OneDrive).

Responsibilities

• Provides supervisory leadership within the Genesis unit to maintain a safe, trauma-informed environment for children and staff.
• Assists Unit Manager with day-to-day unit operations and program standards.
• Supervises direct care staff: onboarding, coaching, scheduling, payroll, and performance feedback.
• Models Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), CARE, and trauma-informed practices.
• Maintains safe, clean, and organized milieu and supports daily programming.
• Coordinates staffing, scheduling, overtime, and coverage with Unit Manager.
• Ensures licensing, documentation, incident reporting, and policy compliance.
• Participates in unit and treatment team meetings and admissions/transitions.
• Provides on-site leadership coverage during absences and non-standard hours.
• Engages in community and agency activities to support continuity of care.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
