Job summary

Promise Resource Network is seeking a Hub Peer Support Specialist in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on trauma-informed, person-centered peer support within the Recovery Hub and Recovery Café, with responsibilities across café operations, outreach, and harm reduction.

Ideal candidates have lived recovery experience, CPSS in NC (or plan to obtain within 6 months), and a commitment to equity and community wellness. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and outreach shifts is required.

Qualifications

• Must have lived experience of recovery from substance use or mental health challenges.
• CPSS in North Carolina or willing to certify within 6 months.
• Solid understanding of harm reduction and trauma-informed care.
• Able to relate to diverse backgrounds, including homelessness.
• Excellent communication, de-escalation and active listening.

Responsibilities

• Recovery Café: welcome guests, facilitate recovery circles and activities, assist with cafe operations.
• Harm Reduction & Outreach: support non-judgmental care, distribute harm-reduction supplies, connect to services.
• Peer Support Services: build mutual relationships, provide one-on-one peer support, document and coordinate care.
