Job summary

The Ridge Behavioral Health System in Lexington, Kentucky is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join our inpatient psychiatric unit. This full-time/part-time position runs 7pm–7am, with every other weekend required, and includes a two-week paid orientation.

Responsibilities include supervising patient activities, crisis intervention, and participation in a treatment team. We offer a supportive environment, competitive pay, and a range of benefits through UHS subsidiaries.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Some college course work preferred.
• Experience may be accepted in lieu of college course work.
• Must demonstrate basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts including the disease of addiction.
• Must have clear communication / interaction skills and demonstrate competency in facilitating psycho-education groups.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator.
• Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
• Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns
