Job summary

The Ridge Behavioral Health System in Lexington, KY is seeking Mental Health Technicians for full-time and part-time roles (36 hours/week). The position includes 7pm–7am shifts, every other weekend, and a two-week paid orientation.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support care for patients with psychiatric and substance use concerns, facilitate psycho-educational groups, and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts including the disease of addiction.
• Clear communication and interaction skills; able to facilitate psycho-education groups.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates group activities tailored to topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by Program Coordinator.
• Ensures patients are monitored in the proper location during activities.
• Provides crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety prioritization when needed.

Mental Health Technician Opportunity:

Full-Time and Part Time, 36 hours per week, 7pm - 7am. Every other weekend required.

*Must attend a two week paid hospital orientation from 8:00am-4:30pm M-F*

Located in Lexington, Kentucky, The Ridge offers a healing environment to reassure patients’ sense of security and confidentiality. Dedicated to excellence, The Ridge is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, as a licensed, 110-bed hospital, providing psychiatric (mental health) and substance use disorder (drug and alcohol rehabilitation) services to children, adolescents and adults. Inpatient care is provided on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. Outpatient and partial hospitalization services are provided on a five-day per week basis, days and evenings. Care is provided according to an established code of ethical conduct and strict adherence to patient rights.

Position Summary:

The Mental Health Technician works under direct supervision to provide clerical and patient care activities in the treatment and care of patients with psychiatric and substance abuse conditions. Manages behavioral problems and facilitates education and activity groups. Actively participates as a member of the treatment team and performs other duties as assigned.

Job Duties Include:

• Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator.
• Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
• Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns
