Job summary

The Ridge Behavioral Health System in Lexington, KY is hiring a Mental Health Technician for a part-time role (approximately 24 hours per week). Under supervision you will assist with patient care and group activities in a psychiatric and substance use treatment setting.

Responsibilities include facilitating psycho-education groups, crisis intervention when needed, and helping maintain a safe, therapeutic environment; attendance at a two-week paid orientation is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Some college coursework preferred.
• Experience may be accepted in lieu of college coursework.
• Must demonstrate basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts including addiction.
• Must have clear communication and interaction skills and demonstrate competency in facilitating psycho-education groups.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates group activities tailored to the topic, age, and understanding level as approved by the Program Coordinator.
• Ensures patients are monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
• Provides crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding to escalating behaviors and prioritizing safety.
