Job summary

The Ridge Behavioral Health System in Lexington, KY is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support patient care and clerical tasks in psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment. You will help manage behavioral issues, facilitate education and activity groups, and participate as a team member to ensure safety and a therapeutic environment.

Role is full-time or part-time, 7am–7pm, 36 hours per week, with every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts including the disease of addiction.
• Must have clear communication / interaction skills and demonstrate competency in facilitating psycho-education groups.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator.
• Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
• Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
