Job summary

Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center in Akron, OH seeks a Domestic Violence Shelter Crisis Intervention Specialist to maintain a safe, supportive environment for survivors and provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, shelter intakes and referrals.

The role requires a High school diploma or equivalent (CPR/First Aid preferred), valid Ohio driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks; duties include shelter operations, documentation, teamwork, and community

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; CPR, First Aid, AED, and Narcan certifications preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience with survivors of trauma, mental health, or addiction preferred.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and insurability; ability to pass background checks (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and FBI)

Responsibilities

• Provide confidential, trauma-informed support to survivors, including crisis intervention, advocacy, hotline responses, shelter intakes, referrals, safety planning, and follow-up care.
• Assist with shelter operations, including shelter coverage, safety, transportation, conflict resolution, cleaning/food prep, and daily survivor engagement.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency policy.
• Collaborate with agencies to secure services for survivors and support case managers and staff in individualized survivor plans.
• Participate in professional development and community representation.
• Adhere to Service Excellence standards and agency policies.
• Comply with federal/state requirements, CARF standards and education/certification requirements.
