Job summary

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a teacher assistant to assist in providing supervision and instruction in a safe, trauma-informed classroom environment for all children at our Rapid City campuses, with occasional travel to Owen School.

The role offers a 7:30am–3:30pm schedule, Monday–Friday, a starting wage of $20 per hour, comprehensive benefits, tuition assistance, and opportunities to contribute to positive change for families and communities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience in an education or childcare setting preferred.
• Ability to work with children with behavioral issues and follow approved treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting classroom activities and preparing instructional materials.
• Assist with maintaining classroom and student records and contribute data for progress notes.
• Nurture relationships with children through one-on-one communication and care, ensuring safe supervision.
• Provide leadership in efforts to improve the school, student learning and behavior, safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and families and follow agency policies.
• Travel between two campuses and perform other duties as assigned.
