Job summary

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Special Education Classroom Teacher in Aberdeen to provide individualized, trauma-responsive, standards-aligned instruction that supports academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth for students. The role includes case-managing IEPs, collaborating with families and public schools, and leading essential classroom practices.

The schedule is 7:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, year-round.

Qualifications

Education required: Bachelor's in Special Education or Elementary Education.
Experience with IEPs and special education services preferred.
Trauma-informed care and equitable instruction emphasized.
Ability to collaborate with families, schools, and interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction using agency curriculum.
Case manage IEPs for assigned students in collaboration with the administrator.
Establish a structured, trauma-responsive classroom environment.
Prepare instructional materials, technology, and schedules for daily use.
Monitor student progress and document IEP-related data and records accurately.
Collaborate with families, public schools, and team members to meet students' needs.
Lead and contribute to school-wide problem solving and program development.
