Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC, seeks a Nursing Assistant I for the Surgical Trauma Critical Care Unit. This 36-hour per week role operates on 12-hour rotating shifts (7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am) with weekend and holiday rotation.

The unit is a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma certified 40-bed unit providing Carolina Care 24/7 to diverse surgical and trauma patients. Benefits include extensive PTO accrual and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English (verbal and written) and basic computer skills.
• Prefer six months of nursing assistant experience.
• Nursing Assistant I certification per NC DHHS and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations, procedures, and procurement of equipment and supplies.
• In psychiatric settings, aid patients in reality orientation and support therapy plans.
• Observe, document patient information and report significant changes to RN/physician.
• Assist patients and families with admissions, orientation, and discharge processes.
• Provide direct and indirect care including vital signs, wound care, ROM, and activities of daily living.
