Job summary

UNC Health Care's Surgical Trauma Critical Care Unit in Chapel Hill is seeking experienced registered nurses for a 36-hour-per-week, on-site role in a fast-paced Level 1 trauma ICU. The unit emphasizes teamwork and interdisciplinary care for diverse surgical and trauma patients.

Responsibilities include delivering nursing care per standards, coordinating with case managers, and participating in continuous improvement. Licensure as an NC RN and BLS are required; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina (NC RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One year of nursing experience.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment and obtain a Bachelor's or Master's in Nursing within seven years of employment date.

Responsibilities

• Education - Identifies learning needs and attends programs; uses patient education materials.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies outcomes and communicates to promote continuity of care.
• Implementation - Manages care for complex patients and prioritizes tasks.
• Leadership - Supports professional growth and interdepartmental collaboration.
• Patient Assessment - Prioritizes patient needs and plans discharge.
• Planning - Collaborates with patient/family on care plan and uses multidisciplinary resources.
• Research - Reads journals and discusses applicability with staff.
