Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Nursing Assistant I for the Acute Care Trauma and General Surgery Unit on a per diem/on-site schedule. Rotating 12-hour shifts, with day and night coverage, including weekends and holidays.

Under RN/physician supervision, you will provide routine patient care, assist with examinations, monitor vital signs, and support discharge planning with compassionate, teamwork-driven care.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Basic computer skills required for documentation and patient records.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures.
• Aids patients in reality orientation and participates in behavior modification plans.
• Observes, collects, and documents patient information and reports changes promptly.
• Assist in patient admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care including vital signs, wound care, glucose checks, ROM exercises, and postural drainage.
• Assist with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation.
• Perform indirect care such as cleaning, stocking supplies, transporting patients and materials.
• Reinforce patient education and distribute educational materials.
