Job summary

North American Transportation Management Institute is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to assist the manager/director in supervising delivery and backhauls. You will train and supervise associates, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote safety within the department.

You will oversee daily operations, enforce SOPs, manage schedules, and coordinate with warehouses and customer service to resolve issues while maintaining high performance and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of transportation experience and/or training.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License preferred but not required.
• Certificate of DOT regulations training preferred.
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, DOT rules, SOPs; proficient with spreadsheets and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily work and safety of transportation associates.
• Ensures compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other regulators; maintains electronic logs.
• Manages labor hours and supplies within budget.
• Prepares work schedules and shifts as needed.
• Trains new associates and cross-trains existing staff.
• Directs asset usage to support the delivery department.
• Coordinates repairs with relevant departments.
• Reviews delivery productivity and implements efficiency ideas.
• Enforces company policies and procedures, including food safety and record keeping.
• Communicates with warehouse and customer service to resolve issues.
• Visits customer locations to address delivery challenges.
• Maintains associate relations through regular meetings and open communication.
• Supports safety initiatives with training and incident investigations.
• Performs staff selection, development, and performance reviews.
