Job summary

North American Transportation Management Institute is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to support the manager/director in supervising delivery and backhaul activities. You will train and supervise transportation staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote safety within the department.

The role requires 2–4 years of transportation experience, knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations, and the ability to lead teams while maintaining adherence to SOPs and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of transportation experience.
• High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor's preferred.
• Class A CDL is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSA) and DOT rules.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily work and safety of transportation associates per SOPs and routes.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations (DOT, OSHA) and maintain accurate electronic logs.
• Oversee labor hours and consumable supplies within budget.
• Prepare work schedules including extra days and shifts as needed.
• Assist with training of new and existing associates, including cross-training.
• Direct the selection and use of company assets to support delivery operations.
• Coordinate required repairs with appropriate departments.
• Review delivery performance and productivity; suggest efficiency and cost-reduction ideas.
• Enforce company policies, DOT rules, record keeping, and safety procedures.
• Communicate with warehouse and customer service to resolve issues and opportunities.
• Visit customer locations to address issues and assess delivery difficulty.
• Maintain positive associate relations through regular meetings and open communication.
• Monitor morale and solicit ideas to improve engagement and enablement.
• Collaborate with safety manager on training, investigations and safety inspections.
• Handle staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews, and terminations.
• Work assigned schedule with attendance; may work outside normal hours to meet workload.
