Job summary

Sysco Corp. in Indianapolis seeks a Transportation Supervisor to support the transportation manager in supervising delivery and backhaul activities, train staff, and promote safety and regulatory compliance across the department.

You will ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA, schedule shifts, monitor labor and supplies, and collaborate with warehouse and customer service teams to resolve delivery issues and improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of transportation experience.
• Class A CDL preferred but not required.
• DOT regulations training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily work and safety of transportation associates.
• Ensures compliance with DOT, OSHA and other regs and maintains logs.
• Manages labor hours and consumables within budget.
• Prepares work schedules including extra days and shifts as needed.
• Assists with training of new associates and cross-training.
• Directs proper use of company assets in delivery support.
• Coordinates required repairs with proper departments as necessary.
• Reviews delivery functions and productivity reporting; suggests efficiency ideas.
• Interprets and enforces company policies, including food safety and record keeping.
• Communicates with warehouse and customer service to resolve issues.
• Visits customer locations to address delivery issues and assess difficulty.
• Maintains associate relations through meetings and open communication.
• Monitors morale and solicits ideas to improve engagement and enablement.
• Works with safety manager on training and safety inspections.
• Performs staff selection, development, discipline and performance reviews.
• Works assigned schedule with regular attendance and may work outside normal hours.
