Job summary

HMB Professional Engineers, LLC in Louisville, KY, is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our transportation group. The role focuses on design of bridges, culverts, and retaining walls using reinforced concrete, steel, and timber, with collaboration across disciplines and clients.

The successful candidate will have a PE license, a Civil Engineering degree, and 5+ years of relevant experience, with opportunities to lead projects and mentor junior staff in a supportive, hybrid-work environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• 5+ years in structural design for transportation structures.
• Experience with bridges, culverts, and walls.
• DOT project experience preferred.
• Project or client management experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Proficient with CAD software (MicroStation or AutoCAD).
• Proficient with structural design software (Bentley LEAP Bridge, OpenBridge, MDX, MIDAS).
• Experience with inter-disciplinary projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design transportation structures including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
• Assist senior design staff in structural design, drafting & review.
• Collaborate with structures group and clients to complete projects.
• Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal guidelines and codes.
• Develop engineers cost estimates.
• Guide junior staff with direction and feedback.
