Job summary

HMB Professional Engineers, LLC is seeking a Structural Engineer in Nashville to lead design of transportation structures, including bridges and walls, with a focus on code compliance and cost estimation. You will support senior staff, mentor juniors, and collaborate with clients to deliver complex projects.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in structural design, PE registration, and proficiency in MicroStation/AutoCAD and Bentley software.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
• Experience designing transportation structures (bridges, culverts, walls).
• 5+ years in structural design.
• Experience in project or client management preferred.
• Ability to supervise junior staff and participate in design and detailing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Proficient in CAD software (MicroStation or AutoCAD).
• Familiar with structural design software (Bentley LEAP, OpenBridge, MDX, MIDAS).
• DOT project experience preferred.
• Willing to work on interdisciplinary projects beyond structural design.

Responsibilities

• Design transportation structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls.
• Assist senior design staff in structural design, drafting, and review.
• Collaborate with structures group and clients to complete projects.
• Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal codes.
• Develop engineers' cost estimates.
• Guide junior staff with direction and feedback.
