Job summary

Mannik Smith Group is seeking a Structural Engineer in Lexington, KY to design transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, and retaining walls. You will assist senior designers, collaborate across disciplines, and ensure compliance with codes while contributing to cost estimates.

The role requires 5+ years of structural design experience, PE licensure, and strong CAD/structural software skills (AutoCAD, MicroStation, LEAP Bridge, OpenBridge, MDX, MIDAS). Hybrid work options may apply.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Experience designing transportation structures including bridges, culverts and walls.
• 5+ years in structural design.
• Project or client management experience preferred.
• Ability to guide junior staff and participate in design/detailing.
• Proficiency with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Proficiency with CAD software (MicroStation or AutoCAD).
• Proficiency with structural design software (Bentley LEAP Bridge, OpenBridge, MDX, MIDAS).
• DOT project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design transportation-related structures including bridges, culverts, walls.
• Assist senior design staff in structural design, drafting and review.
• Collaborate with structures group, other disciplines and clients to complete projects.
• Ensure designs comply with local, state and federal codes and guidelines.
• Develop engineers cost estimates.
• Guide junior staff with direction and feedback.
