UMBC Transit provides extensive fixed route bus service to the UMBCcampusand the surroundingcommunities. Primary locations serviced include: TechnologyResearch Center (TRC), UMBC South Campus - Bwtech South, Freshmen satellite parking lot, BWI MARC/Amtrak trainstation, HalethorpeMARC trainstation, downtown Arbutus, Catonsville,Baltimore Inner Harborand more. This service extends to weekends with additional access toRoute 40 (Baltimore National Pike) business district (Wal-Mart, international grocery markets, various shopping centers) and Arundel Mills Mall.
Of specialinterest are the weekday/weekend connections to downtown Arbutus (East Drive, OCA Mocha), restaurants, R/C Hollywood Cinema 4, Village JunctionBakery and much more. UMBC Transit also connects to: Charm City Circulator, Collegetown networks, Inner Harbor, Lexington Market, sports stadiums, University of Baltimore (UMB) campus, Baltimore Convention Center,museums, theatres, restaurantsand more.This service serves current students, staff and faculty members with a valid black & gold UMBC ID.
The Charter Manager will oversee UMBC Transit Charter Program. This position requires flexibility in a revolving work schedule, including some days, nights, and weekends in order to accommodate training, routes and other requirements.
UMBC offers competitive compensation. This role starts at $82,000 and has over 4 weeks of vacation for regular full time roles. Tuition remission is also available.
Reporting to the Director of Transit in the Division of Student Affairs, the incumbent will oversee the UMBC Transit Charter Program.
providing timely estimates, driver scheduling, and service invoicing; operating/assisting with interstate charters; hiring drivers; goal setting, performance review, and progressive disciplinary actions for staff; establishing staff development to ensure consistent adherence to UMBC Transit policies and procedures; participating in department meetings, safetybriefs (instructionson safe driving behavior and best practices)and monthly safety meetings; assisting in overall leadership of Transit operation; performing administrative tasks; and performing other duties as assigned.
A background check will be required.
Employees in this position must maintain the required driver's license with no more than 5 points and will be subject to drug and alcohol testing and education as required under U.S. DOT and the State of Maryland regulations. Employees will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
Salary: $82,000 to $93,000depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
