Job summary

Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of State Patrol seeks a Transportation Safety Program Associate (Office Operations Associate) to provide administrative and program support for the Bureau of Transportation Safety and Technical Services (BOTS) and related programs.

The position is part-time at 20 hours per week, with a hybrid schedule and required on-site presence at the Hill Farms Building in Madison, WI.

Qualifications

Job Title Transportation Safety Program Associate (Part-Time)

Join the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of State Patrol as a Transportation Safety Program Associate (Office Operations Associate) and provide administrative and program support to many transportation safety programs.

This position is part-time and is expected to work 5 hours per day, 4 days per week (20 hours per week). The specific work schedule will be determined by the selected candidate’s availability and business need.

This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the Hill Farms State Office Building at 4822 Madison Yards Way, Madison, WI at least 2 days per week after completing required training. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Position Summary

This position provides administrative and program support for the Division of State Patrol’s Bureau of Transportation Safety and Technical Services (BOTS), including the Motorcycle Safety Program and other transportation safety programs within BOTS. The position is responsible for maintaining program documentation, certification records, and student information as well as database maintenance. Additionally, this position supports event coordination and other operational activities.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (02-10) with a starting hourly rate of $23.16, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must meet all the following:

  • Experience organizing and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Experience interacting with a diverse group of business partners including external and internal parties.(Business partners may include a division, a bureau, a partner agency, the public, etc.)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office or similar products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

In addition to all the above, well-qualified applicants must meet one or more of the following:

  • Experience communicating verbally and in writing with internal and external business partners.
  • Experience designing, implementing, revising, and/or supporting computerized databases.
  • Experience supporting a transportation training program. Transportation training programs may include teaching driving, equipment operation, safety skills, etc.
