Job summary

County of Culpeper is seeking a Project Manager to oversee Locally Administered VDOT Transportation Projects within Culpeper County. You will manage engineering reviews, coordinate with planning, and supervise construction documentation.

The role requires a civil engineering background, 5+ years of experience, and strong project leadership. PE preferred. This on-site position offers growth in public infrastructure and the opportunity to impact local transportation policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with 5 years of civil engineering experience; PE preferred.
• Must pass criminal background check; Virginia driver's license required; water/wastewater license preferred.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles; familiarity with VDOT projects and local admin.
• Ability to lead staff, manage projects, and present to senior management; proficient in MS Office; basic AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Serve as transportation engineer for locally administered projects; manage, review comments on proposals, coordinate with Planning on grants.
• Plan, organize, and direct design/construction of capital improvement projects; act as contract administrator.
• Review subdivision/site plans for utilities; conduct inspections and ensure code compliance.
• Develop and revise utility ordinances, design standards, and policies; provide engineering expertise to departments.
• Draft and review contract changes; meet with officials, contractors, developers, and engineers; respond to inquiries.
