Job summary

3 Rocks Engineering & Surveying in Colorado seeks a transportation engineer to lead and grow our transportation practice across Southeast Colorado. You will manage projects, price and scope proposals, and serve as the primary contact for public-sector clients.

The role emphasizes ownership from first conversation to final walk-through. The candidate will hold a Colorado PE in Civil Engineering with 6+ years of public-sector roadway experience, and be proficient in MicroStation with CDOT

Qualifications

• PE license in Civil Engineering, Colorado licensed (or ability to obtain by comity within one month).
• 6+ years of transportation engineering experience with focus on public-sector roadway projects in Colorado.
• Familiar with MicroStation and CDOT plan production standards.
• Track record of running own projects: scoping, pricing, budgeting, and client communication.
• Comfortable presenting to town boards, public works directors, or CDOT project managers.

Responsibilities

• Project management: lead transportation projects from proposal through construction with a project engineer and drafters.
• Roadway design: design roadway and intersection to applicable standards.
• Traffic engineering: prepare small traffic studies and permit applications.
• CDOT pursuit: advance CDOT mentor-protégé program relationships toward prime work.
• Client relationships: build and maintain relationships with municipal and county staff.
• Team development: guide engineers and drafters on transportation work and standards.
