Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer I to join our Bannockburn, Chicago O’Hare, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, IL offices. You will work on design and construction engineering for statewide, county, and local transportation projects, collaborating across disciplines and offices.

This role emphasizes design, drainage and traffic studies, with opportunities to learn Civil3D/Bentley OpenRoads Designer and pursue relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
• Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design roadway, underground utility, and infrastructure improvements using Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
• Prepare engineering plans and specifications using IDOT standards.
• Process Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
• Assist with construction engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required for project delivery.
