Job summary

RS&H in the United States seeks an experienced Transportation Deputy Project Manager to support delivery of highways, roadways, bridges, and public infrastructure. The role targets a seat in one of our Carolinas offices: Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville, Charleston, or Columbia, with a focus on planning, coordination, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in transportation, infrastructure, or civil engineering projects.
• Experience supporting project schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and technical deliverables.
• Strong understanding of transportation design and construction practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing project scope, schedules, budgets, and milestones throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support project execution from planning and design through construction and closeout.
• Coordinate project activities to ensure timely and successful delivery.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including roadway, bridge, traffic, environmental, and construction professionals.
• Facilitate communication among internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clients.
• Support resource planning and workload management.
• Develop internal and external meeting agendas, presentations, and summaries.
• Track deliverables and action items.
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and key performance indicators.
• Review project reports, invoices, and cost tracking information.
• Support contract administration.
• Identify project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
• Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations.
• Support compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations and permitting requirements.
• Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day project operations.
• Serve as acting project lead when delegated by the Project Manager.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices.
