Job summary

Orion Engineers, PLLC is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer to lead design tasks for infrastructure projects. You will engage in plan preparation, design analyses, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes adherence to budgets and quality while supporting business development efforts. The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree with PE licensure, 4+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency in MicroStation; Geopak and SUDA are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with emphasis on highway design, traffic and transportation engineering.
• PE licensure for the State of Illinois required.
• 4+ years of progressively responsible transportation engineering experience.
• Familiarity with ISTHA/IDOT policies and roadway design.
• Experience with MicroStation design software.
• Geopak SS4/3D experience with modeling and cross sections preferred.
• Valid driver's license to travel to project locations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze information and data to perform routine design tasks.
• Receive instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers.
• Research design options and document findings.
• Ensure accuracy of engineering design, plans, and budgets.
• Research code requirements and prepare environmental/permit reports.
• Keep Project Manager informed of workload and changes.
• Maintain professional knowledge through workshops and networks.
• Assist in preparing project proposals and business development.
• May assist in non-design tasks such as construction inspection, testing, surveying, CAD, and field data collection.
