Job summary

Orion Engineers, PLLC (Orion) is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer focused on infrastructure and transportation engineering. You will join a growing firm and work on a wide range of transportation projects while gaining exposure to project accounting, client service, and business development.

The role requires PE licensure in Illinois and a minimum of 4+ years in transportation engineering. Expect a collaborative, hybrid work setting and growth opportunities in a supportive culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis on highway design, traffic and transportation engineering.
• PE licensure in Illinois required.
• Minimum 4+ years of transportation engineering experience.
• Familiarity with ISTHA/IDOT policies, roadway design and plan preparation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze information and data to perform routine design tasks.
• Receive instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
• Research design options and document findings.
• Ensure accuracy of engineering design, plans, quality presentation, and conformance to budgets and standards.
• Research code requirements and prepare environmental impact and other permit reports.
• Maintain workload updates with Project Manager and assist on multi-disciplinary projects.
• May participate in non-design activities such as construction inspection and materials testing.
