Job summary

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. in Illinois is seeking a Transportation Engineer to resolve complex problems, perform analyses, and prepare reports for municipal, county, and state agencies.

You will work with a team to develop PS&E packages and feasibility studies, leveraging Civil, OpenRoads, and AutoCAD tools. The role requires strong communication, leadership, and project scheduling skills, with a preference for a PE and experience with IDOT and local agencies.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred)
• Ability to lead, manage and schedule staff to meet project needs
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience working with the Illinois Department of Transportation and local municipalities (preferred)
• Use of Microsoft Office Products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Proficient in MicroStation with OpenRoadsDesigner/Geopak or AutoCAD with Civil 3D
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must complete a background check

Responsibilities

• Resolve engineering problems and tasks as they are assigned, with help as needed from more experienced staff
• Perform transportation engineering analyses and calculations
• Prepare and write engineering and other reports
• Work as part of a team to complete general transportation engineering services for municipal, county, and state agencies
• Assist in the preparation of reports and feasibility studies
• Develop engineering plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)
