Job summary

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. in Illinois is seeking a full-time Project Engineer in the Transportation unit.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of transportation engineering experience and demonstrates the ability to lead project teams, develop engineering solutions, and deliver comprehensive end products. The role requires strong communication, familiarity with MicroStation/OpenRoadsDesigner/Geopak or AutoCAD Civil 3D, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

5+ years of transportation engineering experience
Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred)
Ability to lead, manage and schedule staff to meet project needs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Illinois DOT and local municipalities (preferred)
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Must complete a background check

Responsibilities

Resolve engineering problems and tasks with help from senior staff
Perform transportation engineering analyses and calculations
Prepare and write engineering reports
Work as part of a team to provide transportation engineering services for municipal, county, and state agencies
Assist in the preparation of reports and feasibility studies
Develop engineering plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)
