Job Title: Transportation Project Engineer (Heavy Civil)

Salary: Starting from $80,000 per year + bonus

A well-established construction firm is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer to support complex heavy civil roadway and private projects in Orlando and Greater Central Florida. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to gain hands-on experience in large-scale infrastructure projects. This position will help the Project Managers in the direction of field responsibilities for self-performing and subcontracted trades.

This is a full time, permanent position around Clermont/Winter Garden, FL. Around 50% field and 50% office. We are open to relocating candidates who are not local.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with superintendents and foremen to ensure project goals, timelines, and quality standards are met.
  • Assist the Project Manager in maintaining compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Manage changes in scope of work and oversee budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Support daily scheduling and coordination of materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
  • Assist in baseline scheduling, project definition, and resource planning.
  • Process change orders as needed.
  • Provide customer support and assist with contract administration.
  • Oversee and coordinate traffic control plans, equipment mobilization, safety plans, erosion control plans, and purchase ordering.
  • Ensure subcontractor performance and timely project completion.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • 2+ years of project experience in heavy civil construction
  • Ability to travel within the Southern U.S. as needed.
  • Strong ability to operate independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience in heavy civil or roadway projects.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with FDOT projects (preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in Viewpoint software.
  • Military service background.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with private owners.
