Job description

Position Profile:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced transportation project engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong civil engineering and project management background and experience working with State (DOTs) and local municipalities. In this role, you will exemplify technical excellence as part of multidisciplinary design teams to plan and execute transportation projects for various clients, including local governments and state departments of transportation. Projects will likely include phases such as Planning, PD&E, and Design for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of rural highways and roads, urban highways and streets, intersections, sidewalks and multiuse paths, signing, pavement marking, and traffic control plans for construction.

A Day in the Life of a Transportation Project Engineer:

  • Design, develop, and manage civil engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Collaborate with State DOTs and local municipalities to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and assessments to determine project requirements and feasibility.
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Work with project managers to develop project scope and hours for related tasks.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and review technical assignments of less experienced staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Proven experience working with State DOTs and local municipalities.
  • Project and/or task management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) CONNECT Edition or willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.

The salary range for this position is: $86,000 - $137,000 per year. Salary offered is based on years of relevant experience.
