Job summary

HNTB is seeking a senior transportation planning leader to manage a 6-8 person group in the Des Moines area. The role focuses on coordinating project priorities, staffing, and resources to deliver high-quality transportation projects from feasibility through design and construction.

The ideal candidate has experience in transportation planning or NEPA, with strong leadership capabilities and client engagement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, Geology, Biology, Environmental Science, Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field and 8 years relevant experience including 2 years project leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Develop, monitor, and manage the section's operating budget in support of the group/office budget and forecast updates.
Lead the discipline-specific planning section; coordinate activities, priorities, and staffing to jobs; ensure staff development, mentoring, and training needs are met.
Support the firm’s strategic plan and SSA process on project pursuits at the section/office level.
Support contracting (SCA) and project delivery (SDA) processes including scope, work plan, and fee reviews.
Oversee project delivery and performance; manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality; review reports, designs, specifications, and plans.
Assist in marketing efforts: client discovery, proposals, interviews, and win-to-work activities; maintain client contacts.
