Job summary

HNTB is seeking a senior engineer to lead the traffic and safety discipline within a central office. You will manage a 6-8 engineer group, coordinate staffing, budgets and staff development while delivering transportation projects from feasibility to construction.

The role emphasizes mentorship, cross‑section collaboration and professional growth, with focus on project quality and client satisfaction across multiple states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8 years of practical experience including 2 years of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops, monitors and manages the section's operating budget.
• Responsible for management, growth and professional development of discipline-specific engineering section.
• Supports SSA process on project pursuits and section planning.
• Oversees contracting (SCA) processes including scope, work plan and fees.
• Ensures SDA project delivery processes and performance tracking.
• Assists in marketing activities: client discovery and proposals.
• Maintains client contacts to ensure satisfaction.
• Recruits, hires and retains section staff; plans reporting and reviews.
• Manages project scopes, schedules, budgets and quality.
• Leads a team of 5–10+ staff and mentors others.
