Job summary

HNTB is seeking a seasoned leader to head a technical discipline group in the Des Moines area. You will guide a team of traffic and safety engineers from feasibility through construction, ensuring staffing, budgets and quality delivery align with client goals.

You will mentor staff, coordinate cross-functional work, and contribute to SSA-driven pursuits while maintaining strong client relationships and project performance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8 years of practical experience including 2 years in leadership.
• Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• 10 years practical experience preferred.
• 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages the section's operating budget.
• Oversees staff development and performance.
• Coordinates section activities, priorities and staffing to jobs.
• Supports SSA and contracting processes on projects.
• Manages project delivery including scope, schedule and budget.
• Recruits and retains section staff and manages staff performance.
• Leads a team of 5–10 engineers and provides technical guidance.
• Maintains client satisfaction and supports business development.
