AtkinsRéalis in Henderson, NV invites a Transportation Planning Intern – Summer 2027 to contribute to client projects across the transportation planning lifecycle, including traffic modeling, data collection, safety analysis, and multi‑modal planning.

You will prepare technical documents, visuals, and reports, participate in team meetings, and gain mentoring and professional development opportunities within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with mapping and transportation modeling tools, or data visualization software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated interest in transportation systems, mobility, roadway safety, public engagement, and community planning.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Support transportation planning tasks including traffic modeling, data collection, safety analysis, public engagement, and multimodal planning and design.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical documentation, presentations, and project reports.
  • Analyze and interpret transportation data to support project recommendations and planning discussions.

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Transportation Planning Intern – Summer 2027 to join our Henderson, NV office. Your role involves working on real client projects, gaining exposure to multiple stages of the project lifecycle and a variety of transportation planning assignments. You will support transportation planning tasks that could include traffic modeling, data collection, safety analysis, public engagement, and multi‑modal planning and design. You will assist with the preparation of technical documentation, presentations, and project reports. Analyze and interpret transportation data to support project recommendations, planning discussions, and decision‑making. Participate in project team meetings, brainstorming sessions, client meetings, and workshops. Support mapping, data visualization, and planning analyses used to communicate project findings and recommendations. Collaborate with team members to develop innovative transportation solutions. Participate in training, mentorship and professional development opportunities to build technical, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

About you

EXPERIENCE: Familiarity with mapping and transportation modeling tools, or data visualization software is a plus. Demonstrated interest in transportation systems, mobility, roadway safety, public engagement, and community planning.

EDUCATION: Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple tasks.

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
