Job summary

US Foods in Montgomery, AL seeks a Transport Manager to lead a safety-first Transportation team and ensure accurate, on-time outbound shipments to customers and distribution centers. Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in transportation or warehousing, supervisory experience, and solid knowledge of DOT/OSHA rules, with proficiency in Office tools and data interpretation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• 3+ years in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution.
• 1+ year of supervisory experience.
• Driver experience is a plus.
• Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
• Familiarity with DOT requirements and OSHA/regulatory standards.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Lead with a safety mindset to keep drivers, customers, and the public injury-free.
• Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates; coach on policy and safety.
• Discuss performance with Sr. Transportation Managers and create improvement plans.
• Foster upward communication and motivate teams to meet goals.
• Direct supervision of drivers and clerical staff; drive engagement and retention.
• Participate in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel; review performance.
• Monitor goals, analyze issues, and implement cost-effective solutions; ensure DOT compliance.
• Investigate accidents and maintain records to prevent recurrences.
• Schedule shifts using planning tools and coordinate with DOT regulations.
• Support other duties as assigned by the manager.
