Job summary

Kenco Logistics is seeking a Sup - Ded. Transportation supervisor to manage transportation support staff, including load planners and drivers, ensuring safe operations, route efficiency, and on-time performance. The role emphasizes coaching, reporting, and cross-functional coordination within a leading U.S.

3PL provider. Responsibilities include driver management, safety program oversight, and performance reviews, with a focus on continuous improvement and adherence to DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent years of experience required.
• Equivalent years of experience is defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.
• Two plus years of experience in related fleet dispatch experience and/or training required.
• Load planning and knowledge of DOT compliance regulations required.
• Customer service, operations and/or industrial background preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups or customers or employees of the organization.
• Good working knowledge of computers: Microsoft Word and Excel required.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to communicate with tact, diplomacy, and authority, when necessary.
• Ability to generate reports and communicate verbally and/or in written form.
• Ability to work with and maintain effective working relationships with others of all levels of authority.
• Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management System) system and/or Lean principles/manufacturing preferred.
• Experience with ELD (Electronic Logging Device) Logging Systems – Omnitracs preferred.
• Experience with some form of Transportation Management System.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations including driver management and route assignment.
• Maintain safety culture and compliance with DOT requirements.
• Promote timely communication across functional areas for customer requests.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to associates to meet performance goals.
• Collect and report key performance metrics and KPIs.
• Maximize efficiency of fleet operations and suggest improvements.
• Maintain associate schedules to ensure department coverage.
• Ensure SOPs are understood by drivers before road travel.
• Oversee annual performance reviews for direct reports.
• Make staffing and merit recommendations when necessary.
