Job summary

Quirch Foods, LLC is seeking a Transportation Manager to lead transport operations at our Vernon, CT facility. You will manage driver logs, route planning, and fleet maintenance while ensuring DOT/OSHA compliance and strong collaboration with drivers, sales, and customers.

The role emphasizes leadership, safe operations, and efficient scheduling to optimize service levels and costs. Local travel to customer locations may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of transportation/logistics experience or equivalent.
• CDL Class A license is a plus.
• Knowledge of DOT and OSHA rules and regulations desired.
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead relationships with professional drivers and coordinate with sales and customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage databases detailing transport activities, finances, schedules, and personnel records.
• Maintain driver information, logs, and customer/sales complaint records.
• Provide leadership to build strong relationships with drivers.
• Review daily driver paperwork (DVIR, invoices, fuel, hotel receipts).
• Schedule routes to maximize capacity and service efficiency.
• Resolve delivery problems between sales, drivers, and customers.
• Address discrepancy reports from accounting to drivers.
• Issue and review daily driver vehicle inspections; ensure audit-ready storage.
• Train drivers: new hires, refreshers, remedial trainings.
• Visit customer locations as needed.
• Coordinate and conduct periodic driver meetings and route assignments.
• Manage driver communications and delivery issues.
• Ensure efficient routing with geographical considerations.
• Coordinate with fleet service providers and monitor fuel usage.
• Oversee fleet maintenance and PMs; coordinate inspections and safety issues.
• Monitor DOT compliance: HOS, log edits, and time stamps.
