Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to oversee detainee transport operations within the facility. You will ensure staffing, scheduling, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with maintenance and law enforcement partners.

The role requires CDL with Passenger endorsement, supervisory experience, and a strong focus on safety, training, and process improvement to support GEO’s corrections services.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• 1 year experience in detainee/inmate transportation with leadership experience.
• Obtain a valid Class B CDL with a Passenger endorsement within six months of appointment.
• 80 hours of verified DOT driver training within six months of appointment.
• Clean driving record with no preventable accidents or major violations in past 3 years.
• Pass company and DOT drug/alcohol tests.
• Demonstrated supervisory capacity in transportation.
• Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military training.
• Must complete DOT training requirements.
• Must obtain CPR, First Aid, Defensive Tactics and Firearms certifications.
• Extensive knowledge of state/contracting agency laws related to corrections.
• Strong communication and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work under stress and lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintains transportation staffing per contract guidelines; recommends new candidates for approval.
• Enforces policies for detainee transport; develops staff training and mentoring.
• Supervises Transportation Supervisors and Officers; approves scheduling and performance actions.
• Facilitates ongoing training and refresher courses; promotes the transportation area.
• Manages facility transportation budget; coordinates with vehicle contractors for upkeep.
• Reviews vehicle maintenance schedules and repairs; ensures timely defect repairs and recordkeeping.
• Coordinates roadside assistance with law enforcement and other agencies as needed.
• Conducts and documents accident investigations; maintains incident records.
• Participates in safety committees and DOT regulatory reviews; stays current on transport rules.
• Keeps regulatory knowledge current by engaging with authorities; performs other duties as assigned.
