Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking a Transportation Officer to coordinate staffing, train Transport Officers, and ensure safe custody of detainees during transport. The role includes maintaining vehicle readiness, reporting incidents, and fostering regulatory compliance.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, one year of transportation experience, a CA weapons permit and guard card, a CA driver license with CDL-P potential, and a State Firearms License.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• One year transportation experience is expected.
• Possession of applicable state requisites for employment and California weapons permit.
• California driver license with potential to obtain CDL-P within 90 days.
• State Firearms License (9mm) required.
• Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service and vehicle inspections.

Responsibilities

• Schedule Transportation Officers work assignments and train staff as needed.
• Monitor officers during transport operations to ensure detainee safety.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance records and regulatory documentation.
• Respond to accidents and prepare reports; assist in emergency transports.
• Ensure weapon qualifications and DOT files are up to date.
• Maintain monthly billing records and DOT regulatory knowledge.
