Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 1 Materials Unit, is seeking a Transportation Technician to support quality materials for major projects. You will inspect materials, supervise testing to meet PTM/AASHTO/ASTM standards, and monitor field operations to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• One year of highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work.
• One year of quality control of materials or construction industry experience, including reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Material inspection: verify materials meet specifications and document.
• Testing oversight: observe tests and review compliance with PTM, AASHTO, and ASTM standards.
• Field monitoring: observe construction and plant operations to ensure contract requirements are followed.
• Documentation review: enter information into eCAMMS and maintain sampling/testing records.
• Equipment verification: check calibration of Department and vendor equipment.
• Plan interpretation: read and interpret project plans and blueprints to confirm correct materials are used.
