Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Transportation Technician with the PennDOT District 1 Materials Unit to inspect construction materials and oversee testing to ensure quality and compliance. You will review plans, document results, and support safe, durable transportation infrastructure.

Role offers full-time hours (7:30 AM–3:30 PM, Mon–Fri) with potential telework up to 3 days per week and options to work from an approved PA location or Oil City headquarters.

Qualifications

• One year of highway/bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work.
• One year of quality control of materials or related experience with blueprints or plans.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Material inspection to verify materials meet specifications and documentation.
• Observing tests and reviewing compliance with PTM, AASHTO, and ASTM standards.
• Field monitoring of construction and plant operations to ensure contract requirements.
• Entering information into eCAMMS and maintaining sampling/testing records.
• Checking calibration of Department and vendor equipment including scales and apparatus.
• Reading and interpreting project plans/blueprints to confirm material usage.
