The State of West Virginia seeks a Transportation Engineering Technician to join its materials testing laboratory. You will conduct mechanical and sieve tests, assess samples, and ensure conformance with job mix formulas and state gradation bands.

You will manage cylinder curing, record 7- and 28-day compressive strengths, test asphalt binder content, and report statistical results to support contractor pay factors and IA audits.

Competenze

• Certification or pre-certification by the West Virginia Transportation Engineering Technician Certification Board.
• No prior experience required.

Mansioni

• Execute mechanical and washed sieve testing, sample preparation, and physical property checks per JMF and state gradation bands.
• Manage cylinder curing and perform hydraulic compression breaks; document 7-day and 28-day strengths.
• Operate ignition furnaces to test asphalt binder content and compute PWL statistics.
• Log certified test data into AASHTOWare and support IA audits.
