Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Hydraulics Engineer to lead hydraulic design for water resources within our Transportation Business Group. You will manage projects, guide staff, and perform hands‑on engineering across phases for diverse water infrastructure projects.

The role emphasizes leadership, communication, and collaboration with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams. A master’s degree and PE license are preferred, with 5+ years in transportation hydraulics and related software

Qualifications

• MS in Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental, water resources or related fields.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location.
• 3+ years of licensed experience in stormwater and water resources.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads Designer for storm system design.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Active participation in employee‑owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead a hydraulic/water resource design team on projects.
• Prepare hydraulic design work using local or national standards.
• Develop reports, memos, and data visualizations for clients.
• Assist with business development and client relations.
• Coordinate with subconsultants and manage project schedules and budgets.
