Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer to coordinate county-wide maintenance activities in Bamberg County. You will supervise field crews, schedule operations, prepare material orders, and maintain cost records to support business plans.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, three years of engineering/construction management experience, and a valid driver's license; willingness to travel and work in

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management.
Minimum of three years in engineering or construction management.
Must hold a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Coordinate county-wide maintenance activities and schedule major operations.
Supervise field crews in Bamberg County and maintain reports and cost records.
Prepare material orders and reports for work performed and upcoming schedules.
Ensure material quantities are sufficient for scheduled and unscheduled work.
Conduct weekly work zone inspections and monthly safety meetings.
Coordinate Jet-Vac truck with other counties for work requests.
Assist in contracts and vendor communications for resurfacing, sidewalk repairs and vegetation control.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
