Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks a Resident Maintenance Engineer to organize, plan, and coordinate county maintenance activities for highways and bridges. You will supervise staff, manage budgets, and ensure safety, quality, and cost targets while adhering to SCDOT policies.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and five years of engineering or construction management experience, plus a valid driver’s license. Travel and emergency response duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of engineering or construction management work experience.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and assigns maintenance work for Interstates, primary and secondary roadways and bridges.
• Supervises staff, prepares performance planning/evaluations, and trains employees.
• Manages yearly budgets for maintenance and shop operations; oversees purchasing and reports.
• Represents SCDOT in interdepartmental committees and coordinates training programs.
• Responds to service requests and emergencies; sets detours and signage; enforces safety and policy.
