Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management is required.
• Five years of engineering or construction management work experience is required.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Physical demands include sitting or standing for extended periods; travel may be required; may work outside normal hours.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions and hazardous environments.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and coordinates activities of county maintenance unit employees.
• Plans and assigns maintenance work on Interstates, primary and secondary roadways, and bridges.
• Supervises staff, ensures performance, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Represents SCDOT on committees and studies; develops training programs.
• Manages budgets, purchasing, records, and reports related to operations and inspections.
• Responds to emergencies, sets detours, and supports shop operations.
