Job summary

Fishbeck is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Grand Rapids, MI. You will assist with design of bridges and roads, using AutoCAD/OpenRoads Designer, and support engineers on project deliverables.

This internship offers exposure to DOT projects, cross-office collaboration, and a path toward professional growth within a dynamic, employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program and pursuing relevant coursework.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or OpenRoads Designer is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are required.
• Previous internship or DOT project experience is helpful but not required.

Location: Regional Michigan Offices

Employment Type: Full-Time Internship

Working with our Transportation team, you will assist in the design of bridges, roads, and other civil projects for the DOT.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in designing roads, bridges, and civil infrastructure for DOT and municipal clients.
• Create design drawings using AutoCAD and OpenRoads Designer.
• Support engineers with calculations and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices.
